WWTK Wednesday - The Root of all Evil edition (money)

Happy Wednesday Everyone! I am going back to bed after I write this, because I do not feel well at all! Sore throats take a lot out of you, especially when they turn into head colds. blegh.

Linking up with Mamarazzi and Crazymama again :)

Thanks for answering my question this week (# 5) ... I can't wait to read everyone's answers!

{1} What is something that you currently spend money on that you consider a splurge or frivolous?

Purses and nail polish. I love Vera Bradley and Coach - So I have to restrict myself so I don't spend all my money + all of the money I don't have on those.
As for nail polish - I love OPI and at 8.50 or so a bottle it can get to be a little expensive.

{2} Tell us about your first paying job. How old were you?

I was in High School - 16, I believe, maybe 17... I babysat the little kids at church on Wednesday night with my best friend for 1 hour. We made 10 dollars an hour 1 hour a week! Haha, we thought we were pretty cool. Luckily I didn't have to start working earlier than that, because I have an awesome mom that let me participate in everything at school instead of worrying about money.

{3} Do you plan date nights and extras into a monthly/weekly budget?

No, but we should. Our favorite thing to do is stay in and watch movies/TV shows. It's cheaper and more relaxing. We do go out occasionally - if we go to a sports event we typically buy those tickets in advance (GO BRAVES)... the same with anything that requires a ticket :)

{4} Share one of your money saving tips with us.

Put it in savings and pretend it doesn't exist :) Haha. I have 20% of each of my paychecks go into savings and I TRY not to look or dip into that stash unless absolutely necessary. Other than that - know what you're going shopping for so that you don't spend money you don't need to be spending.

And finally, Christine  @ http://cmgendreau.blogspot.com wants to know:
{5} If you won the lottery - would you spend it frivolously or use what you need and save the rest? Why?

This is me :) and I DO want to know...
I know for a fact that I would spend some of it frivolously. Here is what will happen...
Pay off my student loans
Pay off the boyfriend's student loans (because I am generous and then he can save for some bling ;) )
Buy myself a house
Buy my mom a house next door ;) She's my best friend, what can I say.... or at least buy her a house she loves somewhere and get me a private jet?!
Rent the boyfriend an apartment - because eventually he will move into my house.
Get a mountain cabin and beach house

(By the way - this is based on the 300 million dollar jackpot last night... lol)

Help some people I know who are going through financial struggles (this would be before the house purchases)

Save the rest!

Wait no... I'd buy every shade of OPI :)

Have a fabulous day and send me some feel better vibes!

1.  How many phones do you have in your household? (cell, smart, land lines)?
1 landline
1 cell phone (I call it the not so smart phone)
1 smart phone (iPhone)
2. Are you brand loyal? (Apple or Android or something else?)
I have never been brand loyal, but now that I went iPhone, I don’t think I’ll ever go back. It is amazing. My sidekick (no, not the T-mobile one)… my almost best friend. I may need an intervention
3. Would you rather talk on the phone, text, or email?
Text or email… either
I am not a phone talker. I lose focus on the conversation easily, which makes it seem like I’m not interested – which I am! Just text me people!
4. What do you think of Video chat? what do you use? (skype, facetime, google talk)
I am not a huge video chat person – not sure why, because I think it is pretty cool. Probably because I do not look very appealing when I am at home and I can’t do any of these unless there is Wi-Fi available – and I will not video chat at McDonalds… haha.. or Starbucks.
5. What is your favorite gadget? (Tablet, cell phone, etc.)
Cell phone --- mainly because I do not have a tablet. I love my phone though (see answer 2).
6. If you had to pick just one technological gadget, (computer, cell phone, smart phone, tablet) and it was the only one you could use for a year, which would you pick? Explain why.
Smart phone (iPhone) – This is because it can be used as a phone, computer, and a mini tablet (sort of).. I know I don’t LOVE to talk on the phone, but it is better to have the ability than not.  I would stick with having a phone, one with brains. Smile

You are my sunshine...

What a beautiful weekend it has been here in GA - the weather has been divine!

Time change - not so much. I am not a morning person, and losing an hour, robbed me an hour of my sanity. It is okay though, because I close tonight and so people will have been spared my grouchiness. Lucky them for me getting to sleep in :)

I am excited that it will be light out longer. I love to walk in the park versus running on a treadmill. I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! Mine was filled with work and lazying around, which was very much needed.

Have a wonderful week - cannot wait for the link ups this week.

A trip and wedding…

This past weekend was quite eventful. The boyfriend was in a wedding in Athens, GA. This called for a little weekend getaway, which was much needed and a lot of fun. I would not necessarily say relaxing, but I am glad he was able to spend time with some of his close friends and people we went to college with.

The best part was that the wedding party had to learn the dance to Party Rock by LMFAO. I was so entertained watching them practice the night before and then execute (sort of) the day of. As I type this, I am uploading the video to Facebook. Muahaha – actually the groom asked me what was taking so long to get it up. Oops. Have to do what the groom says, right?

Well Friday I got my hair cut/colored and the boyfriend and I headed to Athens. From my house it is only about an hour and 15 minutes away, which I never knew, because it was my first time there. We checked into the hotel and I had to take a shower, because my hair was NOT cooperating with the humidity. Then we had the rehearsal and the rehearsal dinner – it was fun to be there even though I wasn’t in the wedding.

Saturday the boyfriend had to be at the country club at 1130 and so I dropped him off and I headed to the mall to do a little window shopping. I had planned to get a pedicure, but I ran short on time. I went back to the hotel and got ready and headed back to the country club about an hour before the wedding. Hung out in the boys locker room (scandalous, I know… ha)

The wedding was simply gorgeous! I loved everything about it. So many sweet, funny, touching, happy moments. The receptions was short, but a lot of dancing and fun!
After the reception the bride and groom headed to Atlanta and most of the groomsmen and their dates or lack there of headed to downtown Athens, a true college city if you’ve ever seen one. It was a blast. One of the groomsmen is a bar manager and got us free drinks wherever we went. I didn’t go overboard, but it was still a lot of fun.

Needless to say – it was a well deserved and enjoyed weekend away.

Here we are. The first is before heading out after the wedding and the second is right after the reception.

Linking up with Aly and Tiffanie again this week Smile

This week my product is Merle Norman Soft Touch Eyeliner in Black Out:

07_SoftTouchEyePncl_36

I love this eyeliner. I always have an issue with eyeliner smudging, but this one does not have that problem! I love it!

IF you have that issue, you should definitely try it. It is $16, but well worth it!

Have a wonderful Thursday everyone!

WWTK Wednesday - Birthdays

Another humpday, another set of questions - Birthday related.. Today - or well yesterday when I actually wrote this, is my best friend's birthday! So very fitting! Linking up with Mamarazzi and Crazymama! You should too!

null

{1} what is your favorite way to celebrate birthdays?

Being with family in friends and it lasting the whole weekend. I like to think that my birthday month, week, and weekend are all important :)

{2} which is  more fun to celebrate? Celebrating yours or your loved ones?

Both - I am so big on birthdays! I spend way to much on the people I love, but they deserve it!
However, I do love being showered with love - whether it just be a text, fb post, call, or present - I love it all. It makes me feel so special that someone took a couple of seconds or more out of their day to tell me happy birthday.

{3} what is your dessert of choice for birthday celebrating?

Everything. No, but seriously - I am so bad on my birthday, I use that as a reason to eat whatever my heart desires, which isn't necessarily good for my, but it is good for my soul! I LOVE white chocolate raspberry cheesecake and also ice cream cake from Dairy Queen.

{4} tell us about your best birthday you've ever had.

I love every birthday. I can't choose just one -

In 6th grade my mom took one of my best friends and I to Charleston, SC to the beach for the weekend and I got Titanic on VHS and the new N*Sync CD - It. Was. Awesome.

When I turned 21 - I spent a chill night with the boyfriend and my best friend - it was great - I am not much of a partier... well until this past weekend apparently - we will get to that during another post.

My senior year of College I was going to have to spend my birthday alone. I was going home the following weekend, so I didn't go home to spend it with my mom, my best friend had to work (slacker), and my boyfriend had graduated and was an hour and a half away. WELL I get out of class, ready to eat my sorrows and watch something and just lay in my bed sulking. I get to my dorm and the boyfriend jumps out of my best friends room to surprise me, flowers were on the counter and he took me out to celebrate. It was probably my sweetest birthday :) He knew how much birthday's meant to me, and I was alone and he didn't want that. The sneaky guy made it sound like he couldn't come!

{5} Share your favorite birthday song

I wouldn't say that I have a favorite birthday song - other than the traditional one.

{6} bonus question:  if you could pick any age to be again, how old would you be and why?

I would be 22 - because I had just graduated college, and I would have made other decisions that would have hopefully gotten me to be in a full time job by now - but I can't go back, and I am only 25, so I still have time! It will get better. :)

Product of the Week Post 2

Happy March!!

I love this link up with Aly and Tiffanie, where you can share any product that you love and want to share with the world!!
Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Before I share my product for this week, let me share something. I love office supplies.... more than just a little bit. For Christmas I got a label maker and markers - and they might have been two of my favorite gifts, no lie.

So for this week, I channeled my inner office supply nerd and wanted to share how amazing these pens are:

The statement that they are the world's smoothest pen might be 100% accurate. I only say might, because while I have tried many different pens in my day, I have not tried them all. I LOVE LOVE LOVE these pens. They write smoothly. At work, when we have to write on receipt tape on our counters, not many pens work, but these never have an issue. The ladies at work are envious of my pens that I am very territorial over :)

While looking for this picture, I saw that they have more colors now that they didn't have when I bought them. It has been added to my shopping list.

For the four above, I paid about 5 dollars give or take. It was well worth it!

That. Is. All.

I am now going to take a couple of breaths and write something using one of my pens ;)

Happy Thursday everyone.

I will be doing a lot this weekend.

Friday - Haircut/Color and then heading to Athens for a rehearsal & dinner for a wedding the boyfriend is in.

Saturday - The Wedding and Reception and thunderstorms

Sunday - Walk around Athens, because even though I live in GA, I have never been there! (Must charge my camera!)
