New Year Fill in the BLANK!

1.   New Years is  a time for new beginnings. Yes, you can say it is just another day to continue on your current path, but why think of it that way. You have the opportunity to say this year I plan to do THIS differently. It is up to you to make it happen :)

2.   One of my New Year's resolutions will be to find a full time job. I have to do this! Anyone know of any openings in the Atlanta, GA area?! :) ... blog networking... haha

3.  A New Year's resolution I've made in the past was to lose weight. Isn't it always? Until I reach my goal weight, which will hopefully be in 2012, this will be a resolution of my LIFE!

4. The most time consuming resolution I ever made was  the losing weight one. You have to put in a lot of effort. It does not come to you for free!

5.  This year I will be spending New Year's Eve  figuring out what I want to do on New Year's Eve. Honestly, I just want a relaxing night at home. If I were a party animal, which I am not, I still have to work Sunday!

6.  If I could wish one thing for my new year it would be  to accomplish new things that I will be happy to say I've done.

7.  2012 is going to be  amazing. That's what I intend to make it for myself and hopefully those around me anyway!

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Fill in the Blank Friday Holiday Edition

1.   The holiday season is  a special time for family and friends where you show those around you love and appreciation and think back on what has happened the past year. Oh AND a time to eat a lot of food, celebrate Jesus, give (and maybe receive a little too), and to watch sappy Hallmark movies.

2.   Snow makes me happy and scared. Living in Georgia, you don't see snow often, but when you do, you stay off of the roads if possible, because 1. people already drive crazy down here, and 2. our cars are not equipped for that kind of weather! However, I love love snow!

3.  The best comfort food to eat when it's cold out is  tomato and basil soup with grilled cheese sandwiches. Yum!

4. Winter is the best time for  wearing flannel pjs, using your snuggie... or both, cuddling with your puppy while drinking tea or hot chocolate and watching a good movie!

5.  I can hardly wait for  next weekend, when I'm making... hehe or persuading the boyfriend to help my find a perfect tree and then my mom and I decorating it!

6.  When it comes to holiday gifts I prefer to  spoil those I love. I spend WAY too much money during this time of year. I also love that where I work participates in the giving tree and I am always in charge, so I spend so much on the family we get to make sure they get what they need/want! However.... I do love a to be spoiled a little too!

7.  If I were to rate my excitement about the holiday season on a scale from 1-10, I would say I am at about a  9... it would be 10 if I did not work in retail. People can get so mean this time of year. It baffles my mind how they act, because most of the time it does not change the situation in their favor and they live angry and I'm left frustrated. BUT there are more happy people than grouchy, so I still love this tie of year!

Turkey dinner turkey dinner... WWTKW

Photobucket

Here are this week's questions:

1. What is your favorite food item at Thanksgiving?

Pumpkin Pie.. Hands down or stuffing.

2. What is your least favorite?

Turkey :-/ I love it, but not Thanksgiving style.

3. Do you have a favorite pie? (Share a recipe if you want or just tell us about it and make us drool)

Pumpkin pie

And my Memere makes an awesome chocolate pie. It's amazing.

4. Do you have any Thanksgiving traditions?

Starting last year, running the Gobble jog 5k. 1. Because of the name. 2. Because of the shirt. 3. Exercise. I guess!

5. Black Friday shopping? Do you participate in the delightful running through the stores in the wee hours or the morning madness or hibernate at home and shop online?

I work on Black Friday. So I do not participate in the shopping. Last year I bought a tv online. :) same price, less crazy.

1. Do you have any musical talents?

Music has always been a big part of my life. I've played the Saxophone since I was in 6th grade. I actually hadn't picked it up since I graduated, until this past Monday. I was surprised I didn't completely suck!

I also teach myself random things on piano and the guitar.

I like to think I can sing. Just not American Idol, X Factor, or The Voice worthy!

2. What role, if any, does music have in your life?

It has always been a great way of expression. Songs have a way of explaining the feelings you never know how to express.

3. What is your all time favorite song?

It's a Wonderful World - Louis Armstrong

4. Do you sing in the shower?

Sing AND dance!

5. Has a song ever made you cry?

All the time. I'm a baby!

Exciting News

So, I have decided to start a little shop on Etsy. I currently just have one item, but as I make more things, I hope to add more items to it. It is nice to be able to just have one thing. If it does well yay, if it doesn't, I'd be sad, but not mad. I already have the materials, so I am not out any extra money other than to post it.

I hope you all check it out. I made one for a lady at work for secret Santa and thought that these would make very cute inexpensive gifts for Christmas or any occasion.

My Etsy Shop

Hope you love it, if not, lie ;)

Hope everyone has had a great day!

WWTKW - Halloween... Shmalloween

Photobucket

{1} How did you celebrate Halloween? Trick or treating? Adult party? Trunk or treat?

I am not a huge Halloween participant. The only thing that I really participated in was trick or treat at work. We handed out candy to the little kids on Saturday. They were adorable.

{2} What candy is your favorite/the first thing you steal from the kids?

Ohhh. Skittles, M&Ms, Sweet Tarts.... apparently I like packs of candy versus bars... haha. Although, this girl will eat some Twix or Kit Kats. Mmmm... Candy, get in my belly.

{3} What kind of candy do you give out, is it your favorite? or something you know you won't be tempted to eat?

None. We don't get trick or treaters. However, I would give out my favorites, because I believe I like candy that kids like, so I want them to be happy :) and for me to be happy when I sneak a few. I always hated getting that nasty candy that I've never heard of! Yes, candy is expensive, but come on, this is once a year!

I did buy candy for trick or treat at work. I bought combo packs of the best stuff. Skittles, starbursts, m&ms, snickers, hershey's, etc.

{4} How soon after Halloween do you take down decorations and put away costumes?

No need, we don't decorate or dress up. We live on a busy road, so kids have never come here to trick or treat anyway. Sadface. I'd go all out if I knew we'd get trick or treaters.

{5} When do you decorate for the next holiday?

We try to wait until Thanksgiving before we decorate for Christmas. We don't really decorate for Thanksgiving. We pretty much use this time to get the house Christmas ready. Lol.

I would decorate the day Halloween is over if I could. I LOVE Christmas. We had a floor set at work Sunday and we decorated the store for Christmas and we started playing Christmas music yesterday. Love it! It puts a smile on my face :) Although, some customers are not at thrilled...

Head on over to any of these lovely ladies pages to participate in WWTK Wednesday: Alicia (Queso)Mamarazzi, or Crazymama.

Have a wonderful Wednesday! I know I will, I'm off for the first time in 8 days and I plan to be a bum in pajamas ALL day! If my laptop was working, I wouldn't even be at my desk right now!

November 1

Wow, can you believe it!? It's already November 1st (in 30 min). So exciting. I love this time of year. If I could have a Christmas tree up all year, I'd be a happy girl. Oh and the music!

We listened to Christmas music at work yesterday for our holiday floor set. It was great :) although there were so many changes that we were there until 4:20 am. That and having this cold, have made this the longest day, but the store is gorgeous!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and Halloween! I didn't do anything but work, but we had trick or treat at work on Saturday. Such cute kids! It was a lot of fun.

Germany part 2 will be up soon, I've been working for 7 days, going on 8, with a 14 hour shift yesterday, so haven't had much blogging time lately. Sadface!

We Want to Know Wednesday!

Photobucket

1. Do you shop til you drop, or are you in and out as quick as possible?

I'm somewhat bipolar in the shopping department. Some days I shop til I drop and then other times I am in and out. The in and out happens more when I am trying to keep from spending money I shouldn't. When I have too much time to roam around, I come up with reasons why I want need everything.

2. Are you a price conscious shopper?

Not always. Although I am becoming one more as I get older. Speaking of, I definitely have some coupon cutting to do today!

3. What store could you spend HOURS in?

Gap, Old Navy, Target, or anywhere that sells Vera Bradley :)

4. What is the most frivolous purchase you have ever made?

A coach purse. I am not one to spend a lot of money on purses, because I want a new one every other day. I used this one for about 6 months before I bought a new one... I intend to go back to it though.. I promise! :)

5. What was the last thing you bought for yourself?

I bought myself a lot of apples and homemade fruit spreads yesterday. Haha. I went to Ellijay with my boyfriend for the day, which is like apple country in Georgia. If we are talking non-food items, I bought myself... a new purse from Fossil, because the store by where I work is going out of business and they were 75% off! I confess.. I have a problem.. I can't resist the purses.

Have a fabulous Wednesday everyone!

Germany Part I

I am going to write about my trip to Germany over a couple of posts. Mainly, because I don't want one post to have 300 pictures.

I left October 4. I flew from Atlanta to Dallas to Germany on standby. The way there was amazing, no problems at all. Other than turbulence, but that's common... NOT that I like it!
I landed in Germany at 730am German time, with no sleep on the plane, thanks to my fear of flying. I wanted to experience minimal jet lag, so I decided to stay up. I failed and took a two hour nap. Then I slept 13 hours that night.

My grandfather lives in Hohensolms, which is about 45 minutes from Frankfurt. On the 5th (technically my first day) we went to Wetzlar so my step-grandmother could go to the doctor and we could walk around the town. However, my Opa forgot his phone in the car and we had to walk about 3 miles UP HILL to get it. When we finally made it to the Alt Stadt (Old City), it was well worth it. Such beautiful buildings and tasty treats.

Here are some pictures from that day:

Wetzlar, Germany

The next day, my step-oma went to babysit my cousin, who I had yet to meet. He's about 2. Such a cutie. While there we went for a walk around Butzbach. It was another gorgeous town, that used to be home of a huge military base. I took a few pictures there too:

Butzbach, Germany

That was just the first two days. While not entirely jet lagged, I was exhausted by the end of the day. The following day my Opa and I had a trip planned for a tour on the Rhein... that will be my next post, it will mainly consist of pictures!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Fill in the Blank Friday

1.   Nothing says fall like   the holiday candles at work and the brisk air.

2.   My favorite autumnal tradition is going for walks in the park. Oh, and drinking apple cider and pumpkin spice latter.

3.  My favorite fall treat is all things pumpkin, pumpkin muffins, pumpkin spice lattes/frapps.

4. Fall makes me think of comfort. Something about the cool air, sweaters, scarves, snuggies , and blankets make me think of being so comfortable. It also makes me think of cuddling :) Who doesn't love that?!

5.  Autumn free form word association, go! cinnamon, pumpkins, thick socks, flannel pjs, crunchy leaves, cuddling, hot chocolate, scarves, cardigans.

6.  My go-to outfit in the fall is jeans, cardigans, t shirts, sweaters, and scarves.

7.  My favorite fall holiday is (Halloween or Thanksgiving) Definitely Thanksgiving. I am not a party girl and I do not have kids, so I don't have much to do with Halloween. Although I do love the decorations. However, Thanksgiving is about family, and food. Two very awesome things! It also makes everyone realize they have so many things to be thankful for!

Have a GREAT weekend everyone! I will be spending it at work tomorrow and then in the mountains with my boy Sunday. Nothing yells fall like spending a day in the mountains. :)

And I will be writing a post with pictures about Germany VERY soon (probably Monday, I have a day off!)

Jet Lagged...

...or just tired from not being able to sleep on the plane... Well that is until we were langing and I fell into a deep sleep and when we landed I think I might have screamed a little, however, I know for sure that I grabbed the lady's arm next to me out of fear. Haha. Well at least it was the end of the flight, so the awkwardness was avoided! I took a two hour nap, although I could have slept for 10 hours. I want to get adjusted to the time here though, so I will fight through the fatigue and sleep well tonight!

It is raining and cloudy here in Germany. I look forward to doing some touring. We are going with my step grandmother to the town where she goes to the doctor, which is supposidly very nice, so I will take some pictures, and begin documenting my journey!

I miss everyone at home, but I know this will be fun, especially when my cousin finally makes it back from her school trip! She's supposed to be my buffer, so I have someone to talk English to instead of German. Haha

Good day everyone!

What I've been up to...

Last I left off it was my birthday and I had extreme back pain.

Good news, that did not ruin my day and it is slowly getting better with the help of my medication doctor. The Friday before my birthday, I hung out with my boyfriend. I already wrote about that HERE. Saturday I cleaned, because I did not want to turn a quarter of a century old in a filthy house... maybe not filthy, but pretty messy.

Sunday I spent the day in Atlanta with my mom. We went to American Roadhouse for brunch, which was AMAZING and way too much food. Then we hit up Piedmont Park for an art festival and just to spend some time outside. Finally for dinner, I wasn't feeling the whole restaurant vibe, so we picked up food from my favorite Japanese Steakhouse and watched Something Borrowed.

Here are a couple of pictures from the day:

View of a lake at Piedmont Park (cute bridge)

Peace. Be the Change.

Best Gelato. Yum!

Food Trucks/Crowd

Excuse the broken 2. :)

It was a fantastic weekend, I was spoiled as always. Lucky girl. I got a Kindle this year and cannot wait to read and read and read! I am currently about a quarter of the way through the first installment of the Hunger Games. Has anyone read it? Any Kindle suggestions?

Have a great Saturday!

Fill in the Blank Friday

1.   My current obsession is   pinterest and my google app. I love being able to read everyone's blogs on the go!

2.  Less debt  Little things make me happy.

3.  My greatest strength is being organized when it counts.

4.  Taking on too much because I am an overachiever  is my greatest weakness.

5.  My life is  kind of stressful at times, but I still love it. Every day I know that I have people that love, that I love and that will always be there for me.

6.  In high school I was   a band nerd. BUT in my High School the Marching Band was considered cool. People went to football games to see us, not to see the football team lose, yet again. No joke, they haven't improved, they lost 70 something - 0 the other day. 50 something of that was scored by the other team before half time. Poor guys!

7.  When I'm super tired  I am quite funny. Or at least I think I am :) I get really goofy. OR on the bipolar other side of things, I get really grumpy.

Have a great weekend everyone! I have another busy weekend ahead of me! Gah. I want a day to breath, but I am also having a blast :) I promise a real update is coming soon!

We Want To Know Wednesday!

Photobucket

1. What is the one thing (food or drink) that you MUST have everyday?
2. What is your "go to" food when you don't feel well/need comfort?
3. Is there a dish that you make that people request when they visit your home/a family favorite?
4. What are 3 foods that you have TRIED and do not like and will NEVER eat again?
5. What is one thing that you love to eat that people would think is weird and/or gross?

1. What is the one thing (food or drink) that you MUST have everyday?

I feel like I need chocolate every day.... BUT I refrain, so I will have to say water. I try to drink more and more. When I am in a health kick, which will need to be coming VERY soon... once my birthday month/trip to Germany is over, I drink only water/powerade.

2. What is your "go to" food when you don't feel well/need comfort?

When I don't feel well I typically don't eat much. When I need comfort, anything sweet.... I eat my emotions. No good. Oh, and sweet tea always makes me smile.

3. Is there a dish that you make that people request when they visit your home/a family favorite?

It seems to change... I make something good and then the rest of the family feels the need to copy/take over my dish. Although last Christmas I made this cheese ball that my boyfriend's mom makes and it was a HUGE hit. I barely had 2 bites. I will probably make it again this year.

4. What are 3 foods that you have TRIED and do not like and will NEVER eat again?

dill pickles - blasphemy... I know
fish (aside from salmon and tuna) - I am not a huge seafood fan
Not a food, but a drink, but most wines/champagnes/beer - Give me a fruity drink with an umbrella!

5. What is one thing that you love to eat that people would think is weird and/or gross?

I am not as weird as I used to be... I went through a phase in High School where my best friend and I would eat mayonnaise sandwiches dipped in syrup... Yuck. How I don't weigh 300 pounds, I don't know.

I hope everyone enjoyed my answers :) I hope to have a post about my recent doings up soon. Just trying to get things done (i.e. loads and loads of laundry, and trying to figure out what to pack in a CARRY ON for a 10 day trip).

Haven't Disappered

It has been a busy week, which is why I have been missing from the blogosphere. We had a baby shower tonight for our manager, who is due in December. I decided to be overly crafty and have been working on that for quite some time.

Within the next couple of days I plan to post some pictures from that and the So You Think You Can Dance Tour I went to for my birthday :) It has been a fantastic week!

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend! Promise to update y'all on my life soon!

It's my birthday...

... And I'll cry if I want to!

My back has been hurting lately. Went to the doctor. Nothing they can do other than muscle relaxers and anti inflammatory medicine. It was pretty bearable until last night or earrrrly this morning. It hurts so bad! I won't let it ruin my birthday though!

And while I am not someone that uses bad language... Like ever, just doesn't sound right coming out of me. My best friend posted this on my wall for my birthday. She knows me well!

The reason she posted that is because recently I sent her this:

I then sent her whale texts for the rest of the day! :)

Enjoy your Sunday everyone! I am going to try and get a little more sleep! I am a quarter of a century old today after-all!

Food Truck Friday ... Again

Somehow I delete my post from yesterday. Sadface.

Boyfriend and I spent the day together yesterday and it was awesome.

We started by heading to Atlanta to check out food truck Friday at Atlantic Station.

I'm not sure if y'all have seen The Great American Food Truck Race on The Food Network, but I am obsessed. I found out a couple of months ago that Atlantic Station had them every Friday! I HAD to go!

This is the truck we ate at:

Yumbii Truck

This is the obviously "healthy" thing we ate:

Philly Cheesesteak with cucumber kimchee :) very unique, but delicious!

These are sesame fries:

YUM!

Then we went shopping! I got the cutest outfit from Anne Taylor Loft! We had dinner at Olive Garden and saw The Help. It was amazing!!!

My new baby

Not a real baby ;)

I have yet to name her/him. Trust, it will happen though.

I also ordered this:

Via: gypsyrosehandbags on Etsy.com

I'm SO excited :)

Also, these came in for John's birthday:

It is going to be a great birthday weekend! :)

It's Okay Thursday

Its Ok Thursdays

It's okay...

...to drink to pumpkin spice lattes and/or frappacinos in one day.

...to be just excited about my birthday coming up as I was when I was turning any age as a kid

...that I cannot start my day without reading blogs, but have a hard time writing my own posts. I want more followers, but need to become more committed

...that I am getting a Cannon Rebel T3i this weekend, and to brag a little :)

...to be excited about all of the TV shows starting soon because it is FALL

...to feel like just going to a wedding in 2.5 weeks in a trash bag, because I can't find a flippen dress.

...to be in my pjs by 6pm on a Tuesday night

...to want all of my walls to magically turn to gray with yellow accents in the rooms.

...to celebrate your birthday for an entire month.

It is 3:40 AM...

...and I'm up because I can't stop worrying about my pit bull, Zoe, that felt the need to eat a whole bag of dove dark chocolate. Which was "safely" on my desk.

Yesterday morning I franticly called the vet to ask for their opinion and they said that I should get some benadryl and pepto bismol and give her that. Not to worry about bringing her in unless she was foaming at the mouth or falling over. She seemed fine after that, however, now she seems very restless. So I gave her a third dose of benadryl and a second dose of pepto in hopes to settle her stomach. I hope she is okay!

I'm a sad mommy!

Felt the need to vent.

Creativity Bug

The creativity bug has hit me. I blame it on pinterest. It has been fun though. Working on a few things right now. I painted some pictures today ( well started ). I am working on a baby shower gift.

I need to post pictures. I will be taking so many pictures once I get my new camera!

A day in the life of the biggest blogging slacker

I should be fired. Or well if I got paid I should be. I am not the best at this because I have no central theme to focus on. My everyday life is not the most amusing all the time, but I want to get better! I love the blog atmosphere. I read often, it's the posting I lack at.

I am excited to say I am going to Germany next month to visit my Opa. For my birthday in 2 weeks I am treating myself to a DSLR. Trying to decide which kind! Nikon or Cannon?! hmm

Fingers crossed I get the drive to become more active on here!

... Sauna Days

I feel as if I live in a sauna, or have been for the past couple of weeks. With temperatures reaching into the 90s in Georgia, it has been quite warm. That's not the sauna part though... our AC has been out. It worked early in the season when we had some warmer days, then it cooled off and we didn't need it.

Finally BAM it's 90 and we go to turn it on and it won't start. I've thought about charging people to come use our house at a sauna, since the one at the gym has been out of order. It's been miserable at times, but I've gotten somewhat used to it. With the holiday weekend we couldn't get the AC repair guy out until today. Fingers crossed they show up!

How was everyone's Memorial Day weekend? Mine was filled with work... people can't go without their lotions afterall!

Friday Confessional

I've never linked up to this before, but I'm excited to read some people's confessions and confess some of my own.

Photobucket

I confess... that I showed up to a work early and was ready to get things going, when I was reminded that I didn't have to be there for another hour... insert sad face here

I confess... I believe I'm developing a slight case of OCD. You know, the kind where you are constantly thinking that you forgot to turn something off and check it, double check it, triple check it, and then turn around and go back in the house to check it AGAIN...

I think Glee might have a hand in making me believe I have this issue.

I confess... that I am running a 5K in the morning and have been a lazy bum for the past two weeks. We'll see how it goes! It's at a BEAUTIFUL Monastery, so I'll just enjoy the scenery :)

I confess... that one of these guys might not survive the night...

Have an awesome weekend! It will be a busy one for me, with Mother's Day being Sunday.

MIA

I have been missing in action for a few months. Just with finishing school, applying to jobs, an living life, I haven't had that much of a drive to blog. I want to revamp my blog, make it more interesting, grow my followers, and make new friends.

I am going to start this new journey now.

I contemplated just getting rid of this blog all together and starting a new one, but why not just revamp this one! It kind of started out as a weight-loss blog, but I have found that my journey is better kept private. I am happy to report that I am still continuing and being successful! I am almost down to my pre-college weight! Woot woot!

Bare with me through my blog changes.

Happy Thursday everyone! I may post another post today - definitely more over the weekend! <3

D*** You Auto Correct! - Funny iPhone Fails and Autocorrect Horror Stories

Damn You Auto Correct! - Funny iPhone Fails and Autocorrect Horror Stories

This is a hilarious website. It's not just an iPhone issue, I have this problem with my Blackberry and my best friend has it with her droid. It's so funny trying to figure out what some things will be corrected as, because my phone thinks what I wrote isn't a word!

Mission:: Diaper Cake

I've been shopping and shopping for things to make the diaper cake for a baby shower I am going to Sunday. Last stop: Baby's R Us... This is a dangerous place for me. I have a hard time restraining myself.

I will post pictures of the process/finished product within the next couple of days!! I'm so excited! I got the idea from Kit over at A Step Into My Life :)

What I'm Loving Wednesday!

Jamie's Blog

I'm loving...

...that the sun is FINALLY shining

...that I get to look out my window and still see pretty snow (well it's crunchy, but looks pretty)

...that I was already off during the 2 snow days, so I didn't miss any work

...that NCIS was new last night and can't wait to watch it tonight

...that I finally watched Psych.. it is HILARIOUS

...that my LAST grad class started yesterday

...that I'm SO lucky to have such awesome family, boyfriend, friends, and co-workers

That's enough loving for today :) I could keep going. I just thought of some random things that I'm excited about. Sure there is plenty more, but I need to save some!

Miscellany Monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

1. SNOW SNOW SNOW

I bet the whole city of Atlanta is shut down. They closed schools, my mom is out of work, where I work is closed (although I was already off). It's so pretty :)

Zoe isn't so sure about the snow. Her paws kept getting stuck, so she'd do this funny wobble hop thing!

2. Homework

While everyone else is out of school, I take classes online, which means no snow day for me! I did however do most of my assignments last night in fear that we might lose power. So now I just have to take a quick(ish) final!

3. Charlie St. Cloud

Finally saw it. I loved it. It is so sad though! I kind of want to watch it again now that I know what's going on. It was also the first Blu Ray movie I've watched on my Blu Ray player I got for Christmas.
